I have been a builder for over 50 years. In that short time, I have had to deal with and become proficient with all types of digging tools, from manual picks, shovels and post hole diggers to backhoes, excavators, and jack hammers. I have always thought of ways to improve tools and DuraDig is a direct result of that. All of my tools have either 1, 2, or 3 points. These digging tools are all created and designed from experience. I would not create and build a tool that I would not personally operate. Let’s use my landscape and flower diggers as an example. The two tools use 3 point technology. One blade has a single point, the pick, while the opposing blade has 2 points, the shovel. Acting together the 3 points allow the user to penetrate hard rocky soil and easily dislodge rock and earth by working the tool downward as well as front to back and side to side to loosen and remove difficult soil. This is a huge improvement to the typical sphere point diggers currently available. Those tools are only useful in removing previously loosened soil. They simply are not designed or capable of actually digging and penetrating hard compacted soil.
The DuraDig Flower Digger utilizes the same 3 points. The standard handheld single point spade requires the user to dig into the soil and use your other hand to go along side the spade to trap and remove the soil prior to planting the flower. The 3 point digger simply penetrates the soil and allows the user to remove that soil in one easy motion, all without touching the dirt. The hole can be made deeper or wider by taking several passes at the soil. Once complete, the flower or shrub can be planted.
