When I was a young boy, I would spend the summers with my Cousins in Banta, CA on the Dairy Ranch and Farm. I would often go into the fields with my Uncle Albert to ''knock down weeds''. This meant we would take a round point shovel and cut the root at the surface until the weed fell. Often, the round point shovel would glance off the root so frequently it took several attempts to get the job done. One day, Albert took me into the workshop and cut a “V” in the tip of a round point shovel and gave it to me. This was a big improvement. Now when I went to cut the weed, the “V” would trap the root and I could cut it almost every time with one wack! I always remembered that shovel and the fact that it had 2 sharp points instead of a round spherical tip. I invented and patented a 2 point shovel, which has proven to be a huge improvement to the round point for digging holes.
